According to the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), there are around 31,000 exhibitions a year worldwide.
In every fair are around ~ 500.000 print catalogs distributed. Small fairs produce less catalogs. Big fairs product more.
These are in total 3.8 mio tons of print catalogs worldwide if you assume that an average catalog weight 250 gram (31.000x500.000x0,25).
You have to cut 2.5 mio tree in order to product all those catalogs if you assume that an average mid-size tree weights 1.5 tons.
And let’s face it: Most of those catalogs have a very short life-cycle. They land in the hotel room trash or thrown into trash after a few quick views.
Stay green! Safe the planet.
